Hand blown glass sinks are the hottest trend in bathroom design. Each sink is a one-of-a-kind
work of art, which can be stunning in both traditional. The following are examples of some of the sinks we make. Each one is hand blown and shaped so no two can be identical. You can visit our catalog for more pictures

Q: How are hand-blown sinks made?
A: The sink begins as a sand form that is placed in the furnace where it melts down at 2400 degrees F. A five-foot long blowpipe is used to gather a small amount of colorless molten glass. Color is added by running the molten glass through small pieces of colored glass. The molten glass is then hand-blown and shaped into the desired sink form. After the sink is finished, it is placed in an annealer and cooled slowly. The sink is then sent out to have the hole drilled.

Q: How durable is the sink?
A: The sinks are resistant to normal ware, but can shatter or chip when very heavy objects are dropped. The sinks can withstand a temperature change of up to 70 degrees. Temperature changes higher than this can result in cracks or shattered sinks.

Q: How are hand blown sinks installed?
A: We recommend having your sink installed by a professional plumber with prior experience installing glass sinks. Drain assemblies must be of a type that does not hold water and MUST be hand tightened. We recommend using Alchemy drain hardware.

Q: How do you care for a hand blown sink?
A: The sinks are tough enough to withstand everyday wear and remain as beautiful as the day they were purchased, when treated correctly. They require no more special treatment as a standard porcelain sink, however abrasive cleaners are not recommended.

Q: What sizes do the sinks come in?
A: The standard size for our sinks is 16-17" by 5-6" deep, but other sizes can be made. Drain hole is 1 3/4" .
Because of the fluid motion of hot glass, sinks can only be made in a round shape.

Q: How do I order a sink?
A: You can contact Sigafoos Art Glass by phone or e-mail and start the process.

·         Misuse – heavy objects such as steel or glass (i.e. a heavy perfume bottle) dropped into the sink or any heavy impact before or after installation may result in breakage.

·         Improper Installation – over-tightening of drain assembly, insufficient support of sink or installing any drain assembly that hold water.

·         Using a drain that does not seat sufficiently.

Conditions for Concern

·         Heavy items stored above the sink, such as a medicine cabinet

·         New construction where indoor temperature is unregulated may lead to thermal shock.

·         Using sink for shaving where the sink is filled with hot water or running hot water constantly may also cause thermal shock.

Installation Instructions:

·         We recommend having your sink installed by a professional plumber with prior experience installing glass sinks

·         The bottom of the vessel must be supported.

·         Drain assemblies must be of a type that do not hold water and must be hand tightened. Us silicone instead of plumbers putty, if needed; we recommend crystal clear silicone or polyurethane sealers. Alchemy or Brass Tech strainer type drains work very well.

·         A silicone seal should be used between sink and countertop.
